Rehearsal walks the owner through the facts that decided past dancer-classification cases — who sets the schedule, who sets the prices, house fees, tip-outs, whether entertainers run their own business — records the answers, dates and signs them, and will not record a contractor arrangement unless a current signed audit holds on all three prongs.

The problem
California presumes a worker is an employee unless the business can show all three: free from its control, outside its usual course of business, and running an independent business of the same kind. Dancer classification claims have settled for millions. Most clubs that lose decided once, on a contract’s wording, and never asked again how the club actually works on a Friday.
approved in 2022 for 8,402 dancers who said two California club operators misclassified them as contractors and unlawfully shared tips.
Courthouse News Service →Under the ABC test a worker is an employee unless the hiring business proves all three prongs.
California Labor & Workforce →Calling someone an independent contractor in a contract does not by itself show they run an independent business.
California Labor & Workforce →Not a reminder. Record the decision refuses a contractor arrangement unless there is a signed audit no more than twelve months old on which all three prongs hold — and an audit will not sign while any question is unanswered or any “not sure” has no note. Signed audits are frozen. There is no override.
How it works
Thirteen questions: control, the club’s own business, the entertainer’s own business, and the money practices raised in past claims. Each answer shows at once whether it counts for or against.
Every question answered, every “not sure” explained, a name and a date. Signed, it is frozen; next year starts a new one.
Employees, or contractors — and contractors only on a signed audit from the last twelve months that holds on A, B and C.
What it will never do
Rehearsal is the owner talking to themselves honestly, in writing.

Questions
No. It tells you what your own answers add up to under the ABC test, and refuses to record a contractor arrangement your own answers do not support.
Because clubs change: a new manager adds a late fee, a new sign-up sheet sets minimum shifts. A year-old audit describes a club that may not exist any more.
Other states use other tests, some stricter and some looser. The questions still cover the facts that decided past cases; ask your adviser how your state weighs them.
No. It is an audit that argues with you. Take the signed audit to somebody who advises on employment law.
The demo on this page is the whole program, running on invented records. Paying gets you a licence key — one line of text, emailed to the address you give at checkout within two working days. Paste it into the program and from then on it keeps your own records. Until then, nothing you type into it is kept.
The key is checked inside the page, on your own machine. It never calls us, so there is still no account and nothing about your business goes anywhere. If you ever stop paying, your records stay exactly where they are, read-only, and Export still hands you every one of them.
Last year’s audit said every prong held, and the club recorded “contractors” on it. This year’s, answered by the manager who runs the sign-up sheet, says minimum shifts, set prices, late fees, house fees and tip-outs. The old audit is now fourteen months old — and contractors cannot be recorded again on it.
