Curtain keeps the log of every people-search site — when you looked, whether you were listed, when the opt-out went, when the listing came down and when to look again — so you can run your own removals instead of paying a service. It will not sign a quarterly sweep while a listing has no opt-out or a site is overdue a look.

The problem
People-search sites publish legal names, home addresses and relatives, and listings that are removed come back. Removal services charge around $129 a year for one person and work in quarterly rounds for exactly that reason. The same work can be done by hand, an evening a quarter — if somebody keeps the log and nags.
a year for one person with a leading removal service, $329 for a family of four, paid up front.
Security.org on DeleteMe →is the rhythm the services report on — removal is described as ongoing, not done once.
Security.org on DeleteMe →data brokers on one service’s list; its automated opt-outs reach about a hundred. The rest is manual either way.
Security.org on DeleteMe →Not a reminder. Sign this quarter’s sweep refuses, with each site named, while any site has never been looked at, is overdue its re-check, or shows a listing with no opt-out sent. A listing cannot be marked gone without an opt-out. There is no override.
How it works
On each site in the list, and any you add. Press what you found: not listed, or listed.
The same week. Press opt-out sent; Curtain says when to chase it and when to look again once it is gone.
Once a quarter, when every site is looked at and every listing has an opt-out. A listing that comes back is caught at the next look.
What it will never do
A log of which sites, what you found and when. Nothing a stalker could use if the device were lost.
Pricing
Because you are doing the work, not paying somebody to.
One person, billed yearly.
You and up to three people at your address.
An agency helping up to ten performers.
Flat fee, billed yearly. Your bank statement says Curtain Software. Your licence key is emailed to you within two working days of payment.
Checkout is our own bitcoin server, not a card processor — nobody we had to apply to and nobody who can close the account. The button takes you straight to it. Give your email address there — that is where your key is sent.
Questions
You can. Curtain is for people who would rather do it themselves, keep control, and spend a fraction of the price.
Fourteen well-known people-search sites to start with. Add any others you find; Curtain treats them the same.
Because a log of where you live is the thing you are trying to make disappear. Curtain refuses notes that look like one.
Contact the police. Curtain is housekeeping, not protection.
The demo on this page is the whole program, running on invented records. Paying gets you a licence key — one line of text, emailed to the address you give at checkout within two working days. Paste it into the program and from then on it keeps your own records. Until then, nothing you type into it is kept.
The key is checked inside the page, on your own machine. It never calls us, so there is still no account and nothing about your business goes anywhere. If you ever stop paying, your records stay exactly where they are, read-only, and Export still hands you every one of them.
Last quarter’s sweep was clean. This one will not sign: Spokeo is showing the same listing again under a new city, and Radaris has not been looked at since June. MyLife’s opt-out went in August and is overdue a chase.
