Abeyance keeps every voucher you sell — its number, face value, every redemption and what is left — ages the balances by time since last use, and lists what goes on your state’s unclaimed-property report, with the letters you owe known owners first. It will not mark the report filed while a letter is missing.

The problem
After a dormancy period with no use or contact, money held for a customer becomes unclaimed property, and in some states that includes unredeemed gift certificates. Each state sets the period, what share is reported, the report date and the letter you must send a known owner first. A club that never looks finds out in an audit that reaches back years.
named by the unclaimed-property administrators among the kinds of property that become reportable in some states.
NAUPA →the shortest a store gift certificate may be set to expire under the federal CARD Act. Abeyance refuses a shorter date.
Not a reminder. Mark filed refuses, with the reason named, while your state rules are not set, any voucher has an error, or a known owner of a balance over the letter threshold has had no letter or had it too late. A redemption for more than is left, a redemption on a reported voucher, and an expiry the CARD Act forbids are refused too. There is no override.
How it works
The dormancy period, the share reported, the as-of and report dates and the letter rule, from your own state’s unclaimed-property office.
Number, issue date, face value, every redemption, the buyer if known and any contact, which restarts the clock.
Abeyance lists every dormant balance, the letters owed and the total to remit. File it, and each voucher is marked reported.
What it will never do
Abeyance never guesses a dormancy period. You enter your state’s rules and it applies them.
Pricing
The report comes once a year. So does the bill.
One club that sells house vouchers.
Up to four venues.
Yearly licence. Your bank statement says Abeyance Software. Refunded in full on request within 30 days. Your licence key is emailed to you within two working days of payment.
Checkout is our own bitcoin server, not a card processor — nobody we had to apply to and nobody who can close the account. The button takes you straight to it. Give your email address there — that is where your key is sent.
Questions
In some states unredeemed gift certificates are. That is why Abeyance asks for your own state’s rules instead of assuming them.
Any use of the voucher or any contact from its owner. Record it and the voucher’s age starts again.
Then no letter is owed for it. The voucher still ages and still reports.
No. It is the record you wish you had kept.
The demo on this page is the whole program, running on invented records. Paying gets you a licence key — one line of text, emailed to the address you give at checkout within two working days. Paste it into the program and from then on it keeps your own records. Until then, nothing you type into it is kept.
The key is checked inside the page, on your own machine. It never calls us, so there is still no account and nothing about your business goes anywhere. If you ever stop paying, your records stay exactly where they are, read-only, and Export still hands you every one of them.
Five balances are dormant. A known owner has had no letter. One voucher was printed “valid one year”, which the CARD Act forbids, and one was redeemed for more than its face. Abeyance catches every one.
