A permit is not current because it has not expired. It is current on a date only if the renewal that carried it there was filed inside its own lead time, every condition attached to it was met by its own date, and nothing cited against it was still open past its cure date. Pick the date. The answer is about that day, not this one.
One row per permit, from every agency that issues one: the premises permit, fire and occupancy, health, and the personal permits the people running the floor have to hold themselves. Each is kept as a history of terms, because which term governs depends entirely on the date you are asking about.
Every countdown here runs to the filing deadline — the expiry, less the lead time the ordinance sets — and not to the expiry. Miss the window and you are not late, you are unlicensed the day after the old term ends. The gap between those two dates is where businesses close.
The door. A day is opened here — premises, date, the manager on duty — and it will not open for a date on which any required permit at that premises was not current as of that date, or on which the manager named held no current permit of their own. It refuses, it says why, and there is no button to press instead.
Two kinds of thing stand between a permit and being current, and neither is on its face. A condition an agency attached to it, with a date it had to be met by. And a violation somebody wrote up, with a date it had to be cured by. A violation inside its cure date is on the clock. Past it, and still open, it is outstanding — and the permit it was written against is not current until it is closed.
Priced, and kept, per premises. The lead times, lighting minimum and conditions in here are what you typed from your own ordinance and your own permits. Marquee argues from them; it does not know them, and it will not pretend to.
Police, health, fire, code enforcement and the permitting office each issue something, and each can walk in. Who they are, who you deal with there, and a number that is answered — kept beside the permits they issue rather than on a card in somebody's wallet.
